Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Equipment Operator to join our team at W A Kendall and Company LLC. The ideal candidate will have prior experience operating heavy equipment and a strong understanding of safe practices and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate heavy equipment to remove branches and tree material from electrical lines
  • Assist in preparing equipment and materials for each day's work
  • Help maintain and repair equipment and tools used in operations
  • Assist other crew members in daily activities and take a leadership role when required
  • Clean up and dispose of all debris
  • Set up barriers, warning signs, flags, markers, etc. to protect employees and public
  • Track and report mileage to Foreperson
  • Perform duties for storm work as needed

Requirements:

  • At least 1 to 5 years' prior experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries
  • Previous experience as a General Foreperson preferred
  • High School diploma or education equivalent preferred

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledgeable about daily maintenance and safe operations of all equipment used
  • Physical strength and good balance to climb into and around mobile equipment
  • Ability to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day
  • Ability to work outdoors under varying and sometimes adverse weather conditions
  • Ability to hear verbal instructions from a distance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain first-aid certification and CPR
  • Ability to wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Good vision and attention to detail
  • Ability to write, read and comprehend written and verbal job instructions/information
  • Ability to maintain balance over uneven terrain
  • Ability to communicate with others
  • Endurance necessary to perform duties throughout a standard eight or ten hour day
  • Ability to travel out of town for storm restoration work when needed
