Position Overview:
We are seeking a qualified Trauma Surgery Specialist to join our esteemed medical team.
Schedule:
The role requires flexibility with shifts, including:
- Tuesday & Wednesday: 7 AM - 7 PM, No Call
- Thursday to Sunday: 7 AM - 7 PM or 7 PM - 7 AM, No Call
We can accommodate various scheduling preferences to suit the provider's needs.
Candidate Qualifications:
- Must possess an active PA State License
- Board Certified status is required
- Required Certifications: ACLS, ATLS, BLS, PALS
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in Trauma, Acute Care, or Emergency General Surgery.
Essential Skills:
The ideal candidate should be proficient in performing procedures such as central lines and chest tubes, and have experience in first assisting in the operating room, as well as managing consults and admissions. Note that this position does not involve outpatient responsibilities and is limited to specific patient demographics.
Daily Responsibilities:
- Conducting rounds on inpatient services in the morning, followed by documentation of daily notes, including ICU management and hospital discharges.
- First assisting in surgical cases, with an average of 2 cases per day and 1 case per night.
- Managing new emergency department consults, floor consults, and responding to trauma alerts.
Patient Load:
- Average census: 20 patients
- Average admissions: 5 per day
Trauma Level:
- Level II
Procedural Expectations:
- Familiarity with procedures such as central lines, chest tubes, arterial lines, laceration repairs, incision and drainage, and FAST exams is encouraged but not mandatory.
- The role includes first assisting in the operating room.
Typical Cases Encountered:
- Trauma exploratory laparotomies, appendectomies, cholecystectomies, emergent exploratory laparotomies, and hernia repairs.
- Patient demographics: 90% adult and 10% pediatric, with a mix of 70% surgical and 30% trauma cases.

- Cerner PowerChart
Credentialing Timeframe:
- Estimated between 60 to 90 days.
