Key Responsibilities- Conduct chemical analysis of body fluids, including blood and urine, to determine the presence of normal and abnormal components.
- Inventory and maintain laboratory supplies, ensuring that all necessary materials are available for testing and analysis.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment, including hematology, chemistry, immunology, bacteriology, and other blood and body fluid analyzers.
- Analyze laboratory findings to ensure accuracy and reliability of results.
- Document information by maintaining daily logs and equipment record books.
- Enter data from analysis of medical tests and clinical results into computer systems for storage and retrieval.
- Resolve problems by examining and evaluating data, selecting corrective steps to ensure accurate and reliable results.
- Provide technical information about test results to physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Analyze samples of biological material for chemical content or reaction.
- Participate in quality assurance programs and activities to ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results.
- Associate or Baccalaureate degree with a major in medical laboratory science or technology, biology, microbiology, chemistry, or another area of science.
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Technologist (MT).
- One year of recent clinical experience preferred.
