POSITION OVERVIEW

The Oligonucleotide Production Scientist plays a pivotal role in the research scale-up and manufacturing processes, utilizing scientific expertise to facilitate the seamless transition of innovative products from development to production. Responsibilities include the post-labeling of oligonucleotides using various chemistries.

This position requires a full-time, onsite commitment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage oligonucleotide production, including the operation of automated synthesis machinery (ABI and AKTA 10 & 100).
  • Post-label oligonucleotides with diverse chemistries.
  • Complete all necessary training for Oligo Mixing, instrument operation, and essential oligo production tasks, adhering to regulatory standards.
  • Utilize analytical instruments such as HPLC, UHPLC, LC-MS, UV-Vis, and fluorescence spectroscopy, while also employing other methods for reagent characterization.
  • Process production materials through bench techniques and laboratory instruments (Prep HPLC, pH probes, balances, NanoDrop, and rotary evaporators).
  • Oversee batch production, prepare protocols, and revise process procedures in compliance with ISO-9001 quality standards.
  • Maintain an inventory of raw materials and final products.
  • Exhibit strong production skills while adhering to safe laboratory practices and environmental regulations.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to enhance production efficiency and meet project deadlines.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS

Ideal candidates will possess:
  • A BS/MS degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the life sciences sector.
  • Proficiency with automated synthesis equipment (ABI and AKTA 10 & 100) and purification instruments is essential.
  • Strong logical thinking, task prioritization, self-motivation, and effective teamwork abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of synthetic chemistry and scale-up processes is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with supervisors, instructing junior staff, and collaborating across departments.

The anticipated annual base salary for this role ranges from $80,000 to $90,000, not including other compensation components or benefits.
