Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the supervisor, the Locksmith - Facility Services HVAC Specialist maintains and repairs locks, key, and electronic access for HACP communities. This role supports the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh's mission, strategic goals, and objectives.

  • Installation of locks and hardware
  • Electronic access
  • Installation of automatic door openers
  • Organizing and maintaining inventory
Requirements

To be successful in this role, the employee should have a high school diploma or GED equivalent and up to one year of specialized or technical training beyond high school to become a certified locksmith. A valid Pennsylvania driver's license and insurability under the Authority's plan are also required.

Technical Skills

The employee should be able to successfully operate a variety of applicable hand-held tools and devices. They should have general and specific knowledge related to locksmithing, including all safety rules and practices. The ability to read and apply blueprints/schematics and specifications, as well as measure and select appropriate materials to finish the project, is also essential. Basic computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook, are required. The employee should also be able to learn other computer software programs as required by assigned tasks.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The position generally works on Authority properties, which may cause the employee to experience a range in temperatures and other weather conditions. The noise level may be loud, and the environment may be more hazardous than a standard office environment. This position may be required to work with contractors as well as Authority residents.
