Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Transportation Specialist to join our team at National Express. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and timely transportation of students to and from school.

Responsibilities
  • Operate a location-specific vehicle with a fixed or changing route, providing safe and reliable transportation service to students.
  • Report to duty on time and maintain routes on time in a safe manner, adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Physically assist passengers in evacuation of the vehicle in case of emergency, prioritizing their safety and well-being.
  • Immediately report any accidents or incidents to the appropriate personnel, following company protocol.
  • Follow company policy regarding student and/or passenger management, ensuring a positive and respectful experience for all.
  • Inform all relevant personnel of problems or procedures, maintaining open communication and collaboration.
  • Present a neat and professional personal appearance at all times, reflecting positively on the company.
  • Complete all required paperwork, including route change sheets, time cards, and vehicle repair requests, in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintain a cooperative attitude with fellow employees, supervisors, customers, and passengers, promoting company goodwill and a positive work environment.
  • Safely and efficiently utilize vehicle equipment, including wheelchair lifts, radios, and emergency equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, adapting to changing circumstances and priorities.
Requirements
  • Must be at least 21 years of age (25 years of age for Tennessee School Bus Drivers, per state law).
  • Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain all valid applicable state licenses and other required certifications to operate company vehicles.
  • Must meet physical and medical requirements and pass substance abuse screening.
  • Must satisfactorily complete and pass all training programs.
  • Must practice defensive driving at all times, avoiding vehicular and industrial accidents through safe driving and work habits.
  • Compliance with all applicable federal, state, county, district, and contract-specific driver requirements.
