As a Respiratory Therapist at Lakeland Hospital, you will apply scientific knowledge and therapy to practical clinical problems of respiratory care. This role involves working as part of a team to deliver respiratory services, under medical direction, and performing a wide range of procedures related to the care of patients with general and specialized respiratory-related needs of various age groups.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate patients to determine respiratory care needs and make appropriate recommendations and changes in accordance with policy and protocol guidelines.
- Assess the effectiveness of treatment and accurately document according to department and legal/regulatory standards.
- Perform point of care testing as required.
- Perform advanced evaluation, management, and therapeutic procedures (interventions) for patients requiring respiratory assistance.
- Assess the effectiveness of intervention and accurately document according to department and legal/regulatory standards.
- Complete and document required education and competencies within designated timeframe.
- Maintain competency in areas of accountability.
- Accurately and timely complete all necessary documentation and billing.
- Facilitate a smooth transition for the patient to appropriate referral services / the next point of service / home and provide education to patients and families as it relates to respiratory issues.
- Instruct and train other respiratory care staff, nursing, and other medical personnel and students regarding patient needs and respiratory care services.
- Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy.
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy.
- 2 years of relevant experience in pulmonary rehabilitation, respiratory care, sleep medicine, or equivalent clinical education.
- Required certifications: LIC-Respiratory Therapist, CRT-Respiratory Therapist Registry, CRT-Hyperbaric Technologist, CRT-Sedation, CRT-Neonatal Resuscitation Program, CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support, CRT-Basic Life Support.
