ROLE SUMMARY

The Prescribing Psychiatrist is responsible for delivering professional psychiatric services, focusing on the evaluation and management of medications for clients. This role involves collaboration with the CCBHC treatment team to develop comprehensive treatment plans through diagnostic assessments and treatment recommendations. The psychiatrist will also provide valuable consultation to clinical staff regarding various psychiatric conditions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure compliance with agency policies, CARF and DMHSAS standards, and federal and state confidentiality regulations.
  • Foster a supportive and recovery-oriented environment for individuals seeking behavioral health and co-occurring services, with an emphasis on trauma-informed care.
  • Supervise physician assistants and/or nurse practitioners in medication management and psychiatric evaluations.
  • Assist eligible clients in applying for Social Security, Title XIX, HMO (Medicaid), QMB, and other benefits.
  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations, crisis interventions, and pre-hospital screenings for both clients and non-clients.
  • Gather and document comprehensive medical, mental health, and substance use histories from clients.
  • Analyze diagnostic tests and examinations to determine appropriate diagnoses.
  • Order and interpret various tests and diagnostic images to assess client conditions.
  • Provide medication management services and prescribe medications in line with CCBHC standards.
  • Educate clients and their families on medication usage, potential reactions, dietary considerations, hygiene, and disease prevention.
  • Deliver clinical consultations to ensure accurate diagnoses and effective treatment plans.
  • Build rapport with clients, assess their needs, and organize and deliver face-to-face services while following up on service outcomes.
  • Conduct clinical assessments, evaluations, treatment planning, crisis interventions, and referrals.
  • Be available for on-call emergency consultations as needed.
  • Engage with other professionals to discuss therapeutic approaches, new resources, and share insights.
  • Document services in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible, Licensed Psychiatrist in Oklahoma, or
  • Oklahoma Licensed MD/DO with experience in community-based mental health, or
  • A Licensed MD/DO currently in psychiatric residency.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES

Must hold a valid Psychiatrist or MD/DO license in Oklahoma and complete required safety training and annual updates.
