Job Overview

Grand Machine & Design is seeking a skilled Toolmaker to join our team. As a Toolmaker, you will be responsible for producing high-quality parts and tooling according to engineering specifications and blueprints.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce high-quality parts and tooling according to engineering specifications and blueprints.
  • Collaborate with engineers and project leaders throughout the project lifecycle to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Read and interpret blueprints to understand project requirements.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in step, technique, and programming efficiencies to optimize production processes.
  • Quickly develop strategies to approach and execute part manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with other machinists on complex parts.
  • Work closely with engineers and project leaders to meet project goals and timelines.
  • Exhibit self-reliance and the ability to take advice effectively.
  • Continuously seek opportunities for learning and skill development.
  • Foster a team-oriented environment and demonstrate adaptability and versatility in various tasks.
  • Build and maintain jigs and fixtures as required.
  • Utilize conversational programming skills, particularly in Mastercam mill, and demonstrate proficiency in Wire EDM.
  • Welding experience (TIG) is helpful but not required.
  • Machine tool steel with precision and expertise.
  • Possess manual lathe experience and demonstrate competence in its operation.
  • Utilize own basic equipment and toolbox to produce parts and tooling with precision and accuracy.

Requirements:

  • Experience with 5-axis machining.
  • Basic knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Proficiency in Mastercam mill 3D.
  • Toolmaker certification or a minimum of 3 years of experience in the field.
  • Additional welding experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work on a laptop and smartphone.
  • Valid driver's license and clean record.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Eligible to work in the U.S.
