Warrant Officer

Job Summary:

MyFlorida is seeking a highly skilled Warrant Officer to supervise male or female inmates in a correctional institution. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing inmate housing areas, enforcing rules and sanitation standards, and transporting inmates using approved restraints.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise inmates in housing units and those segregated for administrative or punitive measures
• Maintain facility security, including visual inspections of body cavities and exposure to body fluids
• Use counseling techniques or referral actions to address inmate behavior
• Conduct inspections and surveillance of persons, property, vehicles, and areas to ensure proper security
• Provide emergency assistance during emergencies, disasters, and accidents

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Previous experience in correctional institution supervision or security
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make sound decisions under pressure
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Working Conditions:

The incumbent in this position is subject to the provisions of Chapter 60L-36, Florida Administrative Code. The work environment is fast-paced and requires the ability to work in a correctional institution setting.
