Job Summary:

As a Security Officer at Ascension, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for our patients, visitors, and staff. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring and authorizing entrance and departure of individuals, ensuring that only authorized personnel have access to sensitive areas.
  • Monitoring security cameras, fire systems, secure doors, property perimeter, and gates to prevent unauthorized access and ensure the safety of our facilities.
  • Performing mobile and foot patrols both internally and externally to deter potential security threats and identify any suspicious activity.
  • Identifying visitors and/or suspicious individuals and requesting appropriate identification to verify their credentials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and respond to security alarms and incidents in a timely and professional manner.
  • Conduct regular checks of security systems, including cameras, alarms, and access control systems, to ensure they are functioning properly.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as facilities and maintenance, to ensure that security protocols are in place and followed.
  • Participate in training and drills to stay up-to-date on security procedures and protocols.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in security or a related field, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Ability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
