Department and Role Overview
Our Child Development Center is committed to nurturing the growth of children from our client families and the broader community. We utilize a play-based educational approach to foster children's development. We are currently seeking a qualified preschool educator (Entry Teacher or Teacher) to enhance our existing team. This team is responsible for managing the classroom environment and guiding children's learning experiences, including instruction, assessment, and communication with parents regarding each child's development.

Work Schedule
The working hours are Monday to Friday, from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with an 8-hour shift scheduled based on staffing needs and children's requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Instructional Duties

  • Design and implement engaging activities that promote children's language, social-emotional, and motor skills development.
  • Create lesson plans aligned with classroom objectives based on California Preschool Curriculum Framework standards.
  • Facilitate meaningful interactions through various group sizes, enhancing learning opportunities.
  • Support children in their learning activities.
  • Maintain a well-organized classroom environment conducive to social, physical, and intellectual growth.

Health and Safety

  • Ensure a safe environment for all children, adhering to childcare licensing standards.
  • Participate in classroom setup and cleanup, maintaining cleanliness and organization.
  • Assist children with their physical needs as necessary.
  • Participate in safety drills to comply with regulatory requirements.

Communication

  • Maintain accurate records of children's developmental progress.
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences based on developmental assessments.
  • Document daily attendance and other necessary paperwork.
Qualifications

We seek candidates who not only meet the qualifications but also align with our values of teamwork, community, and leadership. Specific qualifications include:

Education and Certifications

  • Minimum of 12 semester units in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, including core classes.
  • Current Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
  • Valid CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Current Mandated Reporter certificate.
  • Proof of COVID vaccination and negative TB test.
  • Annual Food Safety Training certification.

Experience

  • Entry Teacher: Minimum six months of relevant experience in a licensed childcare setting.
  • Teacher: At least two years of experience in a licensed childcare center.
  • Lead/Master Teacher: Over two years of experience in a licensed childcare environment.

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies related to childcare and safety.
  • Ability to plan and organize age-appropriate curriculum.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Dependability and flexibility in responding to changing needs.
  • Physical capability to assist children as needed.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Office 365.
