Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Speech Therapist PRN to join our team at Advocate Health. As a Speech Therapist PRN, you will be responsible for interpreting physician referrals and conducting speech and language evaluations of patients with various speech, language, voice, cognitive, and swallowing disorders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish a plan of care and implement individual treatment based on evaluation results, functional goals, and by utilizing appropriate techniques.
  • Monitor and evaluate outcomes and adjust the individualized treatment plan as needed.
  • Identify factors affecting patient comfort and attend to these needs.
  • Plan for and complete patient discharge, including providing written home programs, patient/family teaching, referral for community services, and ordering equipment.
  • Complete all required documentation, including patient progress notes, team conference reports, and discharge summaries.
  • Apply insurance guidelines regarding authorization and number of visits.
  • Perform various manual techniques, patient positioning, and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities designed to identify and resolve problems affecting patient care outcomes and to improve quality of care.
  • Pursue professional growth through participation in continuing education courses, department inservices, and reading professional literature.

Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in Speech Pathology.
  • Speech-Language Pathology license issued by the state of Wisconsin.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, and squat throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist and 10 lbs. from waist to overhead.
  • Must be able to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
