Job OverviewAbout the Role:
New Era Technology is on the lookout for a Qualys specialist to contribute approximately 20 hours a month. The ideal candidate will collaborate with the security engineering team to tailor Qualys CloudView vulnerability scanning policies in alignment with newly established technical security benchmarks, such as those outlined by the Center for Internet Security (CIS).
- Assess and prioritize the implementation of new technical security benchmarks for Qualys vulnerability scanning policy configurations.
- Determine the Qualys vulnerability scanning features that correspond with the newly established technical security benchmarks.
- Configure Qualys CloudView to incorporate the vulnerability scanning features that align with the new technical security benchmarks.
Essential Qualifications
- 3 - 5+ years of experience in Vulnerability Management with a focus on Qualys CloudView engineering.
- Proficient understanding of the following capabilities and hands-on experience with Qualys:
- Scanning Policy Configuration
- Authenticated and Unauthenticated Scans
- Asset Management Groupings
- Dynamic Tagging
- Systems Integrations into Aggregation and Asset Management Platforms.
- Familiarity with Center for Internet Security (CIS) operating system security hardening benchmarks and their application in Qualys vulnerability scanning policies.
- Experience in Cloud Security Engineering and Architecture.
- Knowledge of Hybrid IT, Network Security, and Cybersecurity.
- Relevant industry certifications such as CISSP or CISM.
- Experience interfacing between Engineering and Operations.
- Strong consultative skills.
- Familiarity with SaaS IT infrastructure and cloud security principles.
- Understanding of network security concepts.
- Exceptional analytical capabilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team, both in-person and virtually.
- Strong documentation skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to act as a liaison between business needs and information security/technology.
- Flexibility to work across various time zones.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- A focus on achieving business outcomes.
- A balanced approach to strategic thinking and attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with a proactive attitude.
- Strong project management and organizational skills with a keen eye for detail.
Educational Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from an accredited institution, or equivalent training and experience.
