As a Cloud Security Specialist, your responsibilities will include interpreting and managing vulnerability disclosures, collaborating with AWS professionals on technical solutions, and spearheading remediation initiatives across AWS's extensive infrastructure.
Your role will encompass reviewing and evaluating patch requests, conducting thorough risk assessments, and utilizing your vulnerability management proficiency.
You will work closely with engineering teams to comprehend architectural safeguards and compensating controls, while also partnering with senior security specialists to review and endorse requests.
Your contributions will be vital in assisting AWS in maintaining superior security by balancing risk with service delivery. You will concentrate on identifying security patterns, improving security visibility, and proposing enhancements to our security framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Implementing a risk-oriented strategy for vulnerabilities
- Standardizing processes to optimize remediation efforts
- Offering guidance on compensating controls
- Collaborating with service teams to resolve security issues and eliminate obstacles
- Investigating the potential effects of software vulnerabilities on AWS and our clientele
- Working with AWS service teams and partners to address or mitigate risks
- Drafting risk assessment documents, remediation guidance, audit responses, and status updates
- Collaborating with product teams across AWS to devise scalable solutions for security challenges
- Creating tools to automate and enhance vulnerability management procedures
- Identifying and leading initiatives that consistently improve proactive security across AWS
- Participating in periodic on-call duties

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field; or 4+ years of equivalent technology experience
- 3 years of experience in system, network, and/or application security
- 3 years of experience in threat modeling and analyzing vulnerability disclosures
- 2 years of experience developing automated tools in C, C++, Java, Python, Perl, PowerShell, or Ruby
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in vulnerability management
- Proven ability to drive change in complex environments
- Strong understanding of networking, operating system internals, and system architecture
- Familiarity with AWS services
- Meets/exceeds Amazon's leadership principles for this role
- Meets/exceeds Amazon's functional/technical depth and complexity for this role

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across various US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $143,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $247,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on several factors, including market location, and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Amazon is a total compensation company. Depending on the position offered, equity, sign-on bonuses, and other forms of compensation may be included as part of a total compensation package, along with a comprehensive range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
