Job Summary

The Tile Shop is seeking a highly skilled Material Handler to join our Receiving Department team. As a Material Handler, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our distribution center by receiving, storing, and distributing materials, tools, equipment, and products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receiving and Processing
    • Receive and inspect incoming shipments to ensure quality standards are met.
    • Process purchase and transfer orders using wireless RF devices or desktop computers.
    • Accurately apply labels to items and pallets.
  • Inventory Management
    • Record amounts of materials or items received or distributed.
    • Properly complete paperwork.
    • Ensure complete accuracy of inventory at all times.
  • Warehouse Operations
    • Load and unload trucks.
    • Move materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas.
    • Lift, move, sort, and/or place materials or items on racks, shelves, in bins, or on pallets.
  • Equipment Operation
    • Properly use equipment, including sit-down forklifts, order pickers, reach trucks, 2-wheeled carts, and pallet jacks.
    • Inspect equipment to maintain good working order.
  • Safety and Maintenance
    • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized working environment.
    • Wear safety equipment as required.
    • Participate in cycle counting programs as needed.
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Work in other departments as needed.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    Requirements
    • Education
      • High School Diploma or GED.
    • Certifications
      • Forklift, reach truck, and order picker certification or willingness to be certified.
    • Skills
      • Basic organizational, mathematical, and computer skills.
      • Knowledge of proper safety measures.
      • Ability to manually move and lift 50 lbs regularly and frequently up to and over 100 lbs.
      • Ability to work at varying heights.
      • Ability to stand frequently as well as the ability to walk, sit, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
