The Physical Therapist Assistant plays a crucial role in delivering quality rehabilitation services within a healthcare setting. This position involves working collaboratively with licensed physical therapists to implement treatment plans that address the diverse needs of patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute physical therapy interventions as outlined in the patient's plan of care; maintain communication with the supervising therapist regarding patient progress and any changes in condition.
- Guide and support patients in performing therapeutic exercises and daily living activities, utilizing assistive devices to enhance mobility and independence.
- Administer therapeutic modalities, including but not limited to ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and hot/cold therapies, to facilitate pain management and recovery.
- Document patient care activities and treatment outcomes accurately and promptly in the electronic medical record system.
- Design and instruct patients and their families on home exercise programs to ensure continuity of care post-discharge.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate's degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution.
- Experience: At least one year of experience in an outpatient rehabilitation environment.
- Licensure: Valid state license as a Physical Therapist Assistant; current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development through mandatory training and educational courses.
