Old Dominion Freight Line is seeking a dedicated Driver & Dockworker to become a valued member of our team. This role is essential in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of freight within our service centers and to customer locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Dock Worker Duties:
    • Safely load and unload freight from trailers using motorized equipment or manually, adhering to all state and federal DOT regulations.
    • Utilize various loading techniques to maximize efficiency.
    • Continuously transport freight within the service center on challenging surfaces.
    • Employ the Dock Yard Management System to track freight shipments accurately.
    • Interpret shipping labels and complete necessary freight movement documentation.
    • Ensure the secure loading of all trailers using appropriate tools and supplies.
    • Maintain quality control during the loading process.
  • Driver Duties:
    • Operate vehicles in compliance with DOT regulations regarding safe driving, hours of service, and vehicle maintenance.
    • Meet medical standards set by the U.S. Department of Transportation and pass required drug and alcohol tests.
    • Load and unload freight as needed, utilizing various loading techniques.
    • Monitor freight shipment locations using the Dock Yard Management System.
    • Communicate effectively with service center personnel in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A) with necessary endorsements.
  • Minimum of 12 months of tractor-trailer driving experience or completion of an approved driving school program.
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and safe driving practices.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and be away from home as needed.
