About the Job:

Magnet Medical is seeking a dedicated travel nurse RN specialist for a challenging opportunity in Yakima, Washington. This role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to patients in a medical-surgical (MedSurg) unit with a focus on telemetry monitoring.

Responsibilities:
  • Patient Assessment and Monitoring:
    • Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical, emotional, and psychological needs.
    • Monitor vital signs, heart rhythms, and other vital parameters via telemetry units.
    • Evaluate patient responses to treatments and adjust care plans accordingly.
  • Medication Administration and Management:
    • Administer prescribed medications safely and effectively.
    • Monitor patients for side effects and adverse reactions.
    • Provide pain management interventions and adjust care based on patient response.
  • Telemetry and Cardiac Monitoring:
    • Monitor patients with telemetry units to assess heart rate, rhythm, and overall cardiac health.
    • Assist in interpreting telemetry readings and documenting any irregularities.
    • Maintain and troubleshoot telemetry equipment for reliable patient monitoring.
  • Wound Care and Post-Surgical Care:
    • Provide post-operative care for surgical patients, including wound assessment and management.
    • Perform dressing changes and educate patients on post-surgical care instructions.
    • Administer treatments to prevent complications, such as deep vein thrombosis or pressure ulcers.
  • Patient Education:
    • Educate patients and their families on disease management, including medication regimens and lifestyle modifications.
    • Offer guidance on managing chronic conditions, such as hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease.
    • Provide education on fall prevention, nutrition, activity restrictions, and discharge planning.
  • Collaboration with Healthcare Team:
    • Work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare providers to implement and adjust patient care plans.
    • Participate in daily rounds to discuss patient progress, care needs, and treatment adjustments.
    • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide holistic care to patients.
  • Emergency Response and Critical Care:
    • Respond promptly to medical emergencies, including cardiac arrests and respiratory distress.
    • Provide immediate interventions, including CPR and advanced life support measures.
    • Manage patients experiencing acute changes in condition, escalating care as necessary.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Experience working in a MedSurg/Telemetry environment.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Estimated Salary:

$115,000 per year, based on 48 hours per week and tax-free stipend amount determined by Magnet Medical.
