Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute tasks as detailed on repair orders with precision and efficiency, adhering to dealership and manufacturer standards.
  • Identify the root causes of most malfunctions and carry out necessary repairs.
  • Coordinate with the parts department to secure required components.
  • Preserve and label parts for warranty claims or customer requests.
  • Inspect assigned vehicles to ascertain if additional safety or service work is necessary.
  • Communicate promptly with service advisors regarding any additional work needed, unnecessary tasks, or delays in repairs.
  • Record all performed and recommended work on the repair order.
  • Conduct road tests on vehicles as needed or refer to a test technician.
  • Engage in manufacturer-sponsored training programs and events.
  • Stay updated on manufacturer technical bulletins.
  • Oversee the work of apprentice technicians as assigned.
  • Report any machinery defects or malfunctions to management.
  • Ensure that customer vehicles are maintained in a clean condition, notifying service advisors of any changes.
  • Maintain a tidy shop environment.
  • Be responsible for all dealership-owned tools and manuals, returning them in the same condition as received.
  • Understand and comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including hazardous waste disposal and OSHA standards.
  • Operate all tools and equipment safely.
  • Report any safety concerns to management immediately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED; or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Completion of a one-year certificate program from a college or technical school; or three to six months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment.
  • Capability to drive various vehicle sizes.
  • Willingness to work in noisy environments and adverse weather conditions.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules, including opening and closing shifts, as well as holidays.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and collaborate with a team to lift and maneuver items weighing up to 100 pounds. Must be able to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods, and perform routine kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
