CNC Applications Specialist

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled CNC Applications Specialist to provide technical support for customers, sales, and trade shows for CNC Machines. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering and experience with CNC programming, machine setup, and inspection of finished parts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform application engineering work under direct supervision.
  • Participate in training activities with senior colleagues and external resources.
  • Compile fixtures and work holding for demos, test cuts, and turnkeys.
  • Conduct time estimates for customer parts.
  • Calculate optimal speeds and feeds for part processing.
  • Use industry-standard CAM systems and direct G-Code/Macro programming to generate CNC programs for parts processing.
  • Setup CNC machines with program, tooling, workpiece, and fixtures.
  • Inspect finished parts for quality and accuracy.
  • Generate engineering reports and technical documentation.

Requirements:

  • BS Degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or related field preferred.
  • 0-2 years related experience.
  • Knowledge in part processing, metal cutting, CNC programming, reading drawings, and machine setup.
  • Basic understanding of metallurgy.
  • Proven experience communicating professionally with internal and external customers.
  • Proven flexibility with shifting priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Proven organizational skills with high attention to detail.

Work Environment:

The successful candidate will work in a manufacturing/machining environment with possible hazards such as noise, electricity, chemicals, heavy equipment, and other automated and manual machinery. The general office environment is experienced at DMG MORI office.

Physical Demands:

The position requires frequent travel, operating a vehicle, standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting, and reaching. Pushing, pulling, and lifting objects are also required. Repetitive foot, leg, hand, arm, shoulder, and torso movements are common. Periodic operation of power equipment and sitting at a desk are also required. Occasional lifting or moving up to 50lbs may be necessary.
