Job Title: Project (Technical) Specialist 2

GAI Consultants is seeking a highly skilled Project (Technical) Specialist 2 to support our Power and Energy Engineering - Substation Group.

Job Summary:

This role involves executing structural engineering tasks, including working with engineering and drafting staff, preparing and checking calculations, developing drawings, and preparing deliverables. The successful candidate will support structural discipline projects for utility clients, with a focus on new construction, modification of existing structures, condition assessment/rehabilitation, and feasibility studies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Designing slab and deep foundations for substation equipment and line structures
  • Performing structural analysis and design of steel, concrete, and masonry structures
  • Designing mat foundations for transformers, including spread footings, drilled piers, and steel piles
  • Preparing drawings and specifications per engineering standards and applicable codes
  • Collaborating with other structural engineers for QA/QC peer reviews and staff mentorship
  • Conducting structural field condition assessments
  • Performing bid and construction phase services, including responding to bidder questions and verifying change order documentation
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in structural or heavy industrial structure design
  • Experience with STAAD, RISA, and other related engineering software
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, and other drafting software
