This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn. As a Deckhand, you will be responsible for performing various tasks on hazardous and non-hazardous waste on fresh water dredging sites.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform manual labor in various weather conditions
- Operate and maintain hand, power tools, and equipment of all types
- Clean and prepare work areas, construct fencing, dig trenches, and set braces to support the sides of excavations
- Load and unload materials from trucks or trailers
- Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials
- Work independently as well as part of a team
- Meet deadlines and contribute to a positive, safe, high-quality culture in a fast-paced environment
- 40-hour HAZWOPER training required
- Valid state-issued driver's license preferred
- HS Diploma or equivalent
- Previous construction and/or hazardous waste work experience preferred
- Full-time pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour plus overtime per state law, travel pay, and per diem per company policy
- Medical, dental, vision, life, disability, sick pay per state law, and 401k
This position will be assigned to a local shop in Muskegan, MI, and will support off-site operations. To be considered, candidates must be open to sustained project-based travel within the US. Project locations will vary depending on the assignment.
This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent changes in priorities and deadlines. The ideal candidate will be able to adapt to new situations, work independently, and contribute to a positive and safe work culture.
