Position Overview:


The Department of Communication Disorders and Sciences at SUNY Fredonia provides a Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders Sciences and a Master of Science (MS) degree in Speech-Language Pathology.

Graduates of the MS program fulfill the requirements for ASHA certification (CCC), New York State licensure, and Initial Certification as a Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD).

The Department invites applications for a clinical audiologist role, responsible for delivering clinical services and supervising graduate students at the Youngerman Center for Communication Disorders.

Eligible candidates must possess a Master's Degree in Audiology, a minimum of three years of clinical experience, a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A), and eligibility for a New York State professional license.

Preference will be given to candidates with a Clinical Doctorate in Audiology (AuD) and experience in university teaching.
Compensation is competitive with peer institutions and commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a full-time position with an anticipated start in the Summer or Fall of 2024.

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Chair, the successful candidate will:
Provide clinical audiological services within the Department of Communication Disorders and Sciences at the Youngerman Center;
Deliver high-quality clinical services adhering to recognized professional standards;
Fulfill departmental and supervisory responsibilities;
Exhibit expertise in managing disordered populations and familiarity with relevant equipment and materials;
Educate and train on normal and disordered hearing;
Teach introductory undergraduate and/or graduate audiology courses;
Expand the scope of audiological services and enhance clinical referrals through collaboration with the medical community;
Engage in departmental committees and contribute to the university and profession.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
A Master's Degree in Audiology;
At least three years of clinical experience in Audiological Evaluations and Hearing Aid Dispensing across various age groups;
Current ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (ASHA CCC-A);
Eligibility for New York State licensure in Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispenser license;
Eligibility for enrollment with major third-party insurances, including Medicare and Advantage Plans.

Preferred Qualifications:
A Clinical Doctorate in Audiology (AuD) is preferred;
Possession of New York State licensure in Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispenser license;
Registration as an insurance provider with major third-party insurances such as Medicare and Advantage Plans;
Experience in university teaching;

Demonstrated commitment to working with a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, and constituents in support of campus and departmental missions.


Additional Information:


This is a full-time, term-appointed position with a State budget title of Senior Staff Assistant. Salary range is competitive.
