Responsibilities- Provides clinic and administrative support to patients with cardiac devices.
- Assists with the development and function of the Cardiology Clinic under limited supervision.
- Performs basic prescribed standard non-invasive cardiovascular procedures in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
- Evaluates equipment quality control measurements and troubleshoots equipment performance issues.
- Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors, adhering to safety policies.
- Performs procedures by following and verifying referring providers' orders, using independent judgment and applying learned methodologies according to established policy and procedures.
- Collects and/or reviews pertinent medical, historical, and medication information to perform the appropriate study prescribed by the provider.
- Educates patients/families regarding procedure and/or treatment to be performed, demonstrating professional behavior/conduct in all interactions.
- Assures the efficient operation of workflow of the department, monitoring and maintaining an adequate inventory of supplies and material to ensure non-interruption of services.
- May assist in scheduling patients for device clinic or training, charge entry, and equipment maintenance as outlined by department policies and procedures.
- Provides quarterly productivity reports to the Director of Cardiology and keeps up to date with software/hardware related to cardiac devices, educating staff on cardiac device and concepts.
- Provides clerical support with patient/client notifications and documentation, including completing medical records, labs, authorizations, imaging, hospital records, and any previous care pertaining to each patient visit.
- Provides complete and accurate information necessary for billing related to the patient encounter in a timely fashion.
Certification from an accredited school such as medical assisting, CNA or in a medical related field, as well as completion of courses in EKG and 12 lead, is required. An Associate's degree in a relatable science program and completion of courses in EKG and 12 lead is also acceptable. BLS is required. This position requires clinical knowledge typically achieved with two (2) years of experience or similar work demonstrating proficient cardiac rhythm interpretation and remote defibrillator and pacemaker monitoring. Medical terminology is required. Must demonstrate effective communication skills, human relations skills, analyze data and solve problems. Completion of a Cardiac Device Educational Program (such as Arrhythmia Technologists Institute or PrepMD) or equivalent education or certification is preferred. Three (3) or more years of relevant experience, an Associate's degree in a relatable science program, certification in Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation, Medical Assisting and/or nursing license are also preferred.
