Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Chemical Production Operator to join our team at Arclin in Portland, OR. As an entry-level to experienced operator, you will be responsible for performing tasks and duties pertaining to the manufacturing and processing of resins.

Salary and Benefits

Job Responsibilities

  • Manufacture resin safely, according to procedure and following all HSE requirements.
  • Unload and load raw materials and finished products following established procedures.
  • Operate a forklift to load/unload raw materials.
  • Collaborate with management to meet production and shipping schedule.
  • Ensure required shipping documents are completed and procedures are followed to be in compliance with all regulations and corporate requirements.
  • Participate in the Joint Health and Safety Committee to facilitate safety improvements.
  • Follow all site rules and procedures as they apply to quality, health, safety, and the environment.
  • Visually monitor processes within their area of accountability and immediately inform the Lead Operator of any deviations or abnormalities.
  • Work in close coordination with the Lead Operator to accomplish the tasks needed to safely and efficiently meet production and maintenance schedules across all processes.
  • Communicate and confer with the Lead Operator as well as with Technical, Supervisory, and Support Personnel to resolve process conditions affecting safety, efficiency, and product quality.
  • Respond to process alarms and interlocks promptly and coordinate timely confirmation and corrective actions to resolve conditions generating the alarms and interlocks.
  • Perform In-Process Checks (IPC's) to verify batch progression and quality using laboratory equipment.
  • Perform troubleshooting in the event of process deviations.
  • Perform routine housekeeping such as sweeping, powerwashing etc.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Must be willing to work 12-hour shifts on days or nights.
  • Experience with rotating shifts and night shifts preferred.
  • Able to work independently.
  • High School Diploma Required or GED.
  • Forklift experience a plus but must be able to become certified.
  • Analytical and mechanical mindset needed to be successful in this role.
  • Previous chemical/manufacturing experience a plus.
  • Must be willing to follow strict Health and Safety Guidelines and wear required PPE.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and climb frequently working in elevated areas.
  • Will lift an average of 55 lbs frequently.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Experience with automated equipment in a manufacturing environment a plus.
  • DCS Distributed Control Systems experience a plus.
  • Basic math skills required including the use of a calculator.
