Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced First Assist RN to join our team at Focus Staff. As a First Assist RN, you will play a critical role in assisting surgeons during preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons in general and specialized surgeries
  • Prepare patients for surgery, ensuring they are properly positioned and prepared for the procedure
  • Provide patient care and support, including administering medications and monitoring vital signs
  • Practice surgical procedures, such as controlling bleeding and suturing incisions, draping, providing exposure, and handling tissue
  • Prepare all necessary supplies and equipment for the procedure
  • Position and prepare the patient on the operating table, ensuring their safety and comfort
  • Monitor the patient's vital signs and heart rate during the procedure
  • Educate patients and families on the operation and aftercare, providing clear and concise instructions
  • Perform post-operative assessments and monitoring, ensuring the patient's recovery is smooth and uneventful
  • Perform CPR or emergency measures if required, demonstrating your ability to think critically and act quickly in high-pressure situations
Requirements
  • Motivated and experienced First Assist RN with a strong knowledge of surgical procedures and patient safety
  • AHA Current Basic Life Support certification for Health Care Providers
  • BSN from an accredited nursing program, and proper licensure
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, physicians, patients, and families
  • Certification as a First Assist RN, certification in perioperative nursing
  • Operating room experience required, with a minimum of 2 years of experience
