Position Overview:
As a Registered Nurse in the Surgical Care Unit, you will deliver direct patient care utilizing the nursing process while adhering to the established standards of practice. You will be responsible for providing care to a diverse patient population, spanning from pediatric to geriatric age groups.
Reporting Structure:
This position reports directly to the Director of Medical/Surgical/ECU.
Essential Skills:
- Strong critical thinking abilities and decisive judgment.
- Capability to operate with minimal supervision in a high-pressure environment.
- Availability for on-call duties, with a response time of 30 minutes or less upon notification.
Licensure and Certification Requirements:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications must be obtained within one year of hire.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia, or eligibility to take the NCLEX exam, or Compact licensure as a Registered Nurse in good standing with the Board.
Preferred Experience:
At least one year of experience in a medical/surgical care unit, telemetry unit, or orthopedic unit is preferred.
