About the Role

TikTok is the leading destination for short-form mobile video. As a Machine Learning Engineer Intern, you will be part of our PGC TV Algo team, responsible for pushing next-generation machine learning algorithms for the TV recommendation system in our company.

Responsibilities

  • Use cutting-edge ML algorithms to improve TV core metrics.
  • Identify events and behaviors that affect product experience and efficiency, and build data models to help create a favorable ecosystem and support business operations.
  • Participate in building/analyzing data for various TV markets such as US/EU to identify potential TV algo issues, building large-scale ML algorithm/feature sequence models to support business scenarios such as content understanding, multimodal representation, and solving problems related to TV products.
  • Explore and research cutting-edge technologies in machine learning/sequence learning and related fields, implement these technologies in practical business scenarios, and support the production of scalable and optimized machine learning models.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing an Undergraduate/Master/PhD degree in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Be able to work onsite for at least 12 weeks.
  • Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
  • Good sense of teamwork and communication skills, practical experience in ML business scenarios is preferred.
  • Published papers in high-level computer science conferences (ICML, KDD, EMNLP, NIPS, AAAI, etc.) or have competition experience is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated software engineering experience from previous internship, work experience, coding competitions, or publications.
  • Familiar with the application of related algorithms in data mining, feed recommendation, content understanding is preferred.
  • Skilled in numpy and pandas for modeling experiments, familiar with big data tools such as Hive, Spark, Hadoop preferred.
