Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning, design, and execution of civil engineering projects, including preliminary design studies, project planning, layouts, and other activities.
  • Consult with clients, engineers, architects, vendors, and other stakeholders to determine the most practical and desirable engineering design, ensuring it meets the client's needs and budget.
  • Prepare design criteria, specifications, and estimates for engineering projects and equipment, ensuring they meet industry standards and regulations.
  • Select suitable materials and equipment, ensuring they meet good engineering practices and are cost-effective.
  • Prepare accurate estimates of planning, design work, and other resources necessary to engineer a project, ensuring they are realistic and achievable.
  • Write specifications for materials and equipment in a clear, concise manner, ensuring they are easily understood by all stakeholders.
  • Anticipate information needed and take necessary action to obtain it, ensuring all project requirements are met.
  • Prepare detailed engineering designs, including cost estimates and schedules, ensuring they are compliant with all applicable codes, regulations, and restrictions.
  • Organize, schedule, and supervise the work of others, ensuring the most efficient use of personnel and budget.
  • Effectively handle complex civil design and water resources projects, utilizing various company resources to accomplish the intended work.
  • Coordinate, supervise, check, and assume responsibility for all work done under your direction, including Engineer Associates, Designers, Drafters, and Technicians.
  • Coordinate work with other designers, architects, estimators, purchasing personnel, management, and other stakeholders involved in the project.
  • Complete work on time and within the allotted budget and resource estimate, ensuring high-quality results.
  • Market Thompson Engineering's services to current and potential clients, participating in business development activities, providing completed project write-ups, and updated resume information as requested.
  • Effectively communicate orally and in writing with clients, regulators, public officials, team members, and the public, ensuring clear understanding and expectations.
  • Follow Company policies and procedures regarding safety and quality, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Attend work regularly and on time, ensuring consistent and reliable performance.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution (or equivalent experience).
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer.
  • Minimum of five years of engineering experience, plus proficiency with Civil 3D software.
  • Demonstrated capability to perform at this level.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
