Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at Starling Physicians, a VillageMD company. As a key member of our clinical team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and ensuring seamless coordination with our physicians and staff.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Assist physicians and staff with daily patient care coordination and access.
  • Function as a liaison between patients, staff, and physicians, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Maintain efficient patient flow and prioritize tasks to ensure timely delivery of care.
  • Deliver direct patient care within the scope of licensure and in accordance with Starling Physicians policy.
  • Collect lab specimens, accurately label, and prioritize tasks to ensure timely delivery of results.
  • Prioritize patient care by implementing physician orders and nursing procedures.
  • Ensure proper preparation for patient visits, including preparation of pertinent information and equipment.
  • Effectively communicate problems, concerns, or issues to the Office Supervisor/Manager promptly and appropriately.
  • Assure all patients are correctly identified prior to providing and/or documenting care.
  • Employs appropriate and timely use of Tasking in EHR.
  • Obtain vital signs, including BP, temp, pulse, height, and weight, accurately and completely as required, and document in EHR.
  • Administer injections according to appropriate protocol and document in EHR.
  • Appropriately demonstrate telephone triage protocols and document in EHR.
  • Schedule appointments accurately and according to department guidelines.
  • Adhere to universal safety precautions when administering medications and disposal of medical waste.
  • Review and update medication lists in EHR, demonstrating understanding of prescription control and refill procedures.
  • Enter orders and schedules appointments in the Practice Management System (PMS) and EHR.
  • Provide referrals and/or consult orders appropriately and in a timely manner in the PMS and EHR.
  • Check and maintain logs for emergency equipment according to policy.
  • Facilitate transition of care to UCC/Hospital.
  • Maintain proficiency with department-specific equipment, troubleshoot, and report malfunctions promptly.
General Job Functions:
  • Assist in ordering and maintaining of all supplies as assigned.
  • Demonstrate flexibility with various work schedules.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Physical Job Requirements:
  • Pushing and pulling, taking frequency and weight into consideration.
  • Physical strength to lift heavy objects, carts, or items, taking frequency and weight into account.

  • Dexterity of hands and fingers.
  • Balance is maintained during climbing, bending, and/or reaching.
  • Endurance (e.g., continuous typing, prolonged standing/bending, walking).

  • Chemicals, Chemotherapy, and Fumes.
  • Loud noises.
  • Vibration.
  • Extreme temperatures.
  • Confined spaces.
  • Allergens: dust, mold, and/or pollen.
  • Magnetic fields.
  • Radiation.
  • Sharps.
  • Latex.
  • Combative Patients/Visitors.
Blood-borne Pathogens:
  • Exposure to infectious hazards, blood, body fluids, non-intact skin, or tissue specimens.
  • Contact with patients or patient specimens are possible.
  • Unplanned or unexpected exposure.
Education, Certification, Computer, and Training Requirements:
  • Associates degree required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • CT Nursing License and BLS certification required.
  • 0-1 years experience. 2-4 years experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform diverse work assignments with time limitations with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to use problem-solving, critical thinking, and priority-setting skills.
  • Experience with Standard Office Equipment (Phone, Fax, Copy Machine, Scanner, Email/Voice Mail) preferred.
  • Experience with Standard Office Technology in a Window-based environment preferred.
  • Experience with patient care equipment preferred.
  • Experience with EHR, Practice Management System, and Departmental/Ancillary Systems preferred.
