About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Development Engineer Manager to join our team at the City of Auburn, WA. As a key member of our Community Development Department, you will be responsible for managing the Development Engineering staff, conducting development plan reviews, and ensuring that staff work products meet quality and timeliness goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the Development Engineering staff, including conducting performance evaluations and audits to ensure staff work products meet quality and timeliness goals.
  • Assign and prioritize duties of Development Engineering staff, evaluating staffing resource requirements and assessing staff needs.
  • Manage the review and processing of civil engineering development projects and associated permits and applications submitted through the City's Permit Center for compliance with City development regulations and Engineering Design & Construction standards.
  • Regularly evaluate recurring Development Engineering processes and facilitate implementation of improvements to increase efficiency, minimize waste, and provide customer benefit.
  • Monitor workflow of development projects, application reviews, and other Department initiatives to assist with prioritization and balance of Development Engineering workload.
  • Support Public Works in the management of development projects during construction, including reviewing development construction submittals and coordinating with the Public Works Contract Administration team to review and process development project as-built records and other documentation related to development project final acceptance and close-out.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
  • Five (5) years civil engineering experience, plus an additional two (2) years management experience, or a combination of education, training, and experience that would indicate successful completion of the primary functions of the position.
  • Possess and retain valid Washington state driver's license without impending loss at time of appointment.
  • A State of Washington Professional Civil Engineering license is required at date of hire.
  • Must be able to obtain a Floodplain Manager Certification within the first year of employment.
