Job Summary:

Tidewater Community College seeks a highly qualified Lead Teacher to join our Child Development Center team. As a key member of our team, you will provide leadership and oversight in the classroom, ensuring a high-quality early childhood program that meets the needs of our students.

Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and manage children ages 6 weeks to 12 years old.
  • Develop and implement schedules, activity plans, and special events for the child development center.
  • Communicate effectively with children using approved child development techniques.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and guidance to program assistants and student interns.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness using designated instruments and tools.
  • Provide daily feedback to parents on their children's developmental progress and establish goals.
  • Utilize word processing, spreadsheets, and child development center management software.
  • Lift and maintain 40 pounds for the health and safety needs of children.
Requirements:
  • Active Virginia teaching license in early childhood education or early childhood special education.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a child development center or similar setting.
