Position Overview:


The Safety and Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the protection and well-being of facilities and individuals during non-instructional activities. This role aims to reduce the likelihood and impact of adverse incidents while effectively communicating any observations or occurrences that may affect the safety of students, staff, and visitors.

This is a part-time, flexible role. This position does not come with benefits.

Required Qualifications:

Education:
High School diploma or equivalent required.

Certificates & Licenses:
Must possess a valid Driver's License and provide a copy of the driving record.

Experience:
Relevant experience in a similar role is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:
Engages with local law enforcement and emergency services as needed to address urgent safety issues and crisis situations.

Informs students, staff, and visitors about school regulations and enforcement measures to ensure clarity and understanding of potential repercussions for violations.

Intervenes in potential disputes to minimize disruptions on campus.
Maintains comprehensive records of all incidents, communications, and radio interactions.
Utilizes and oversees electronic monitoring systems, including audio and visual alarms, as well as other surveillance equipment.
Operates communication systems, including radios and leased lines.

Conducts patrols of school property as assigned to ensure the safety and security of facilities, personnel, and visitors.

Prepares necessary documentation (e.g., incident reports, activity logs, security records, etc.).
Refers incidents to the appropriate personnel (e.g., injuries, conflicts, suspicious behavior, etc.) to ensure proper follow-up in line with administrative protocols.
Reports observations and incidents related to specific occurrences (e.g., accidents, altercations, inappropriate behavior, rule violations, etc.) to relevant instructional and administrative staff for further action.
Responds promptly to emergency situations to address immediate safety concerns.
Maintains a flexible schedule to meet job demands, including emergencies, evening, weekend, and holiday responsibilities.
Performs additional related tasks as assigned to support the effective operation of the security team.

Clearance Requirements:
Must pass a Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
Must complete a Tuberculosis Skin Test.

Health and Safety Compliance:
Adherence to safety and health protocols is mandatory.
