Join Our Team as a Certified Respiratory Therapist

MedStar Health is seeking a dedicated Certified Respiratory Therapist to become a vital part of our healthcare team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering exceptional patient care by utilizing their extensive knowledge in respiratory therapy.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Certified Respiratory Therapist, you will:
  • Evaluate the physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural needs of patients while documenting findings accurately.
  • Administer all respiratory therapy treatments and services, ensuring the effective operation and management of necessary equipment.
  • Provide services including oxygen therapy, ventilator management (both invasive and non-invasive), bronchial hygiene, lung expansion techniques, spirometry testing, EKG monitoring, and blood gas analysis.
  • Employ therapeutic communication and problem-solving skills during patient interactions.
  • Participate in cardiopulmonary resuscitation efforts, maintaining airways and providing ventilation support as needed.
  • Enhance workflow efficiency by monitoring interdepartmental processes and recommending improvements.
  • Review electronic medical records and physician orders throughout your shift.

Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
  • An Associate's degree from an AMA accredited respiratory care program.
  • Certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) from an accredited institution.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within one year of hire.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within one year of hire.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within one year of hire.
  • Registry eligibility; prior acute care experience is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related healthcare field.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
