Clinical Nurse Specialist Job Summary

A Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) at Froedtert Hospital is a registered nurse with graduate-level nursing preparation, focusing on evidence-based practice in oncology. They assess, diagnose, and treat patients' illnesses, designing and implementing patient-specific and population-based programs. The CNS provides leadership in advancing nursing practice to achieve quality and cost-effective patient outcomes. They serve as patient advocates, consultants, and researchers in various settings.

Responsibilities:
  • Assess and diagnose patients' illnesses, developing differential diagnoses and providing pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments.
  • Design and implement patient-specific and population-based programs to improve patient outcomes.
  • Provide leadership in advancing nursing practice, promoting quality and cost-effective care.
  • Serve as patient advocates, consultants, and researchers in various settings.

Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Nursing.
  • Licensure to practice nursing in Wisconsin.
  • Certification as a Clinical Nurse Specialist within 1 year of employment.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA-approved equivalent within 90 days.
