Job Overview
Become an integral part of the Amazon team, the initial step in the process of fulfilling customer orders.

In this dynamic and physically engaging role within a sortation center, you will be responsible for sorting, scanning, and organizing packages onto pallets, ensuring timely preparation for delivery to customers.

With the majority of shifts being part-time, you have the flexibility to select hours that best fit your lifestyle and adjust them as necessary in the future.

Duties & Responsibilities

Your responsibilities may include:
  • Receiving and categorizing inventory
  • Preparing customer orders for shipment
  • Utilizing technology such as scanners, computers, and handheld devices

Additionally, you should be capable of:
  • Lifting items weighing up to 49 pounds
  • Standing, walking, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, and reaching throughout your shifts
  • Employing carts, dollies, hand trucks, and other equipment to transport items
  • Ascending and descending stairs (if applicable)
  • Working at heights of up to 40 feet on a mezzanine (if applicable)

What to Expect at an Amazon Sortation Center

Safety: Your safety is our priority; we provide protective equipment and share safety tips daily.
Environment: You will be surrounded by moving machinery, including order pickers, stand-up forklifts, turret trucks, and mobile carts.
Activity Level: The role may involve standing for extended periods, walking, or climbing stairs.
Temperature: Climate controls are in place, but temperatures may range from 60°F to 90°F in certain areas; on warmer days, it can exceed 90°F in the truck yard or trailers.

Noise Level: The environment can be noisy at times; hearing protection is available if needed.
Dress Code: Attire is relaxed, with safety guidelines to follow. Comfortable, closed-toe shoes are mandatory, and specific business units may require protective footwear.
