DEFINITION:
Under general supervision, the educator is responsible for developing and executing a curriculum program that aligns with the educational goals and objectives of the District.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
(The following tasks are illustrative and not exhaustive of all functions performed by positions in this classification).

TASKS:

Monitors and manages student behavior across various settings including the classroom, playground, and during school events; fosters a classroom environment that prioritizes emotional and physical safety, mutual respect, self-worth, self-discipline, cooperation, and responsibility; assesses student needs and creates, implements, and evaluates daily lesson plans tailored to include diverse activities and materials.

Adapts instructional methods to cater to the unique needs of each student; organizes and displays classroom resources effectively to support curricular activities; employs classroom management strategies to maintain an orderly and safe learning environment.

Utilizes positive reinforcement techniques to enhance desired behaviors and educational outcomes; designs instruction to meet specific objectives based on student needs and established curriculum.

Implements instructional strategies that inspire and engage students.

Evaluates student work including assignments and assessments; analyzes student progress and curriculum effectiveness; assesses student performance in relation to curriculum achievements and makes necessary adjustments to meet learning needs; ensures communication with parents regarding evaluation methods and student progress; advises parents on instructional strategies that may support their child; participates in instructional teams to enhance learning activities consistent with District and school objectives; collaborates with specialists to support students; may oversee the activities of teacher assistants and classroom volunteers; manages classroom supplies and instructional materials; performs additional duties as assigned.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
Familiarity with State and Federal educational standards.
Understanding of developmental stages of school-aged children.
Knowledge of District and Department policies and procedures.
Proficiency in various teaching methodologies.
Expertise in classroom management techniques.
Ability to apply common sense in executing instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.
Competence in reading and interpreting documents such as rules, instructions, and procedural manuals.
Skill in composing routine reports and correspondence.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships.
Proficiency in basic mathematical computations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is conducted in an indoor environment. The role involves frequent sitting, repetitive motions, visual monitoring, and may require some lifting.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field.
Valid Arizona Elementary 1-8 Teaching Certificate.
Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Any equivalent combination of training, education, or experience that meets the minimum qualifications and State certification requirements will be accepted.
