The Clinical Hemodialysis Specialist plays a vital role in providing safe and effective dialysis therapy to patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse. This position requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities- Assist patients with daily hemodialysis treatments, including preparing equipment and ensuring patient safety.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and report any unusual findings to the nurse supervisor.
- Perform vascular access evaluations and cannulations as necessary.
- Administer heparin as delegated or as allowed by state law.
- Initiate dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders, including blood flow (QB) and dialysate flow (QD).
- Certification or training in dialysis technology required.
- Previous experience in a hospital setting or related facility preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
