Position Overview
The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for delivering therapeutic services to patients based on individual needs and medical guidance. This role also involves educating patients and caregivers while coordinating necessary adaptive equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducts assessment procedures to evaluate the extent of disability within the professional scope, establishing treatment goals and plans, and making suitable recommendations.
- Implements treatment programs and provides education aimed at restoring optimal function to patients. Evaluates treatment effectiveness and adjusts goals and methods as necessary to address evolving patient needs.
- Maintains comprehensive documentation of patient evaluations and treatments in accordance with departmental standards and regulatory requirements.
- Trains and instructs rehabilitation staff, nursing personnel, and students regarding patient requirements and rehabilitation services.
- Engages in continuous improvement initiatives, enhancing patient satisfaction, program development, and marketing efforts.
- Meets productivity benchmarks as established by departmental standards.
- Enhances professional skills through ongoing education, participation in competency assessments, and the development of innovative patient care strategies across diverse populations.
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited speech therapy program is required.
- Master's Degree from an accredited speech therapy program is preferred.
- Doctorate from an accredited speech therapy program is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required.
- Certification as a Speech Language Pathologist from ASHA is required.
- Valid Driver's License in the State of Michigan is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or ARC is required within 90 days.
This position is part-time with variable hours, requiring availability from Monday to Sunday, including on-call weekends.
