Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and enhance all facets of Food Safety, Quality, and Regulatory initiatives (FSMA, HACCP, SOP, SSOP, Quality Documentation, etc.).
  • Provide expert guidance in the interpretation and application of governmental regulations, agency guidelines, and internal policies to ensure adherence.
  • Manage expectations regarding Quality Assurance for suppliers, including evaluating data to ensure alignment with food safety and quality objectives while fostering strong working relationships.
  • Identify and implement sustainable action plans to address any Food Safety, Quality, or Compliance challenges.
  • Evaluate supplier-generated data to ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards.
  • Ensure thorough evaluation of all products, processes, and facility areas. Assist with third-party, customer, and regulatory audits.
  • Maintain effective communication and strong relationships with all supplier and customer QA departments.
  • Provide technical support for product-related inquiries.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales and Marketing to enhance branded product specifications and assess necessary modifications on an ongoing basis.
  • Lead the Quality Assurance department to foster a dynamic, productive, and collaborative environment.
Environmental Management:
  • Engage with State and County Environmental agencies and act as the plant's representative during on-site inspections, providing information regarding compliance efforts.
  • Oversee environmental programs, plans, and procedures to meet Federal and State regulatory and permit requirements.
  • Develop and maintain the facility's recycling initiatives.
  • Manage the Solid Waste Compliance Program.
  • Supervise remediation efforts for the site.
  • Prepare and ensure timely submission of environmental reports to government authorities.
  • Guarantee that inspection, monitoring, measurement, analytical testing, and recordkeeping for environmental permits, including air, stormwater, process wastewater, remediation, and hazardous waste, are conducted as required.
  • Interface with governmental regulatory agencies for environmental compliance and enforcement inspections.
  • Participate in internal EHS compliance audits and inspections for environmental permits.
  • Analyze environmental performance metrics, prepare reports, and provide recommendations to Senior Management.
  • Assist Operations and Maintenance in achieving environmental goals to prevent pollution through continuous improvement programs that minimize operational impacts on the environment.
  • Serve as the plant's official representative at Hearings and Board meetings conducted by regulatory agencies.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Quality Control Management.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of accounts payable practices.
  • Ability to review documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Proficient in preparing records according to detailed instructions.
  • Must quickly learn to code invoices to the appropriate expense centers and balance sheet accounts; accuracy is crucial.
  • Must understand and adhere to security and privacy requirements and policies relevant to the industry.
Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or one to two years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Language Ability: Must communicate clearly and cordially, working collaboratively with all staff, vendors, auditors, and other business contacts. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of investors, vendors, customers, or employees.
