Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Transportation Technician Apprentice to join our team at the State of Idaho. As a Transportation Technician Apprentice, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and innovative environment, contributing to the enhancement of the quality of life in Idaho through transportation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform entry-level technical highway maintenance and engineering work, including operating a variety of power tools and light and heavy highway and construction equipment.
  • Conduct routine inspections and field tests on construction and maintenance projects, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Operate a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within 60 days of hire, with training provided by the Idaho Transportation Department.
  • Work in a team environment, collaborating with colleagues to achieve team goals and agency objectives.
Requirements
  • Valid driver's license and experience operating vehicles with manual transmissions.
  • Ability to work in all types of weather conditions, under hazardous conditions, on congested highways, and in a noisy environment.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry heavy objects, and to work in a physically demanding environment.
