Position SummaryCTI is seeking a meticulous and experienced Construction Estimator with expertise in Heavy Civil Construction and Environmental Remediation. This role entails the preparation and coordination of comprehensive estimates for large-scale and complex civil and remediation construction projects nationwide.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe selected candidate will be responsible for:
- Assessing and analyzing requests for proposals (RFPs).
- Reviewing RFP documentation, including plans and specifications, to gain a thorough understanding of the scope of work and requirements.
- Conducting site visits for formal evaluations and information gathering.
- Performing take-offs from construction documents.
- Inputting take-offs into spreadsheet software.
- Developing project work plans and construction timelines.
- Gathering and evaluating bids from subcontractors and vendors, including conducting risk assessments.
- Acquiring pricing information for materials.
- Creating estimates when predetermined standards are unavailable.
- Organizing and producing precise and detailed estimates for multiple concurrent projects.
- Communicating any discrepancies or omissions found in quoted items or databases.
- Maintaining a database of products, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Preparing cost analyses by summarizing material, labor, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs.
- Presenting prepared estimates by compiling and displaying numerical and descriptive data.
- Submitting estimate reports and bids to relevant stakeholders.
- Maintaining the cost database through data entry and backups.
- Building relationships with key vendors, including subcontractors and suppliers.
- Enhancing technical knowledge through educational workshops and reviewing industry publications.
- Participating in departmental meetings as required.
Applicants should possess:
- An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- The ability to collaborate effectively within diverse teams, including project managers, engineers, scientists, technicians, and non-technical personnel.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in civil construction and environmental remediation estimating.
- Proficiency in relevant software applications such as Timberline, HCSS HeavyBid, Bluebeam Revu, Microsoft Project, and/or Primavera.
- Strong organizational, time management, written and verbal communication, and presentation skills.
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Eligibility to work in the United States.
- Compliance with CTI's Drug-Free Workplace policy, including passing a pre-hire drug screening.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- The ability to navigate construction sites physically.
