Job Title: IT Support Technician

Join the City of Aspen's Information Technology team as an IT Support Technician. This role is responsible for providing technical support to customers, implementing customer devices, and maintaining the City's IT Fiber Network and associated infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process customer requests for service by determining details of request, providing initial trouble shooting support, escalating request to appropriate IT Staff if necessary, documenting request and solution, and training customers on the use of computer equipment, phone equipment, and network services.
  • Provide PC implementation support such as the receiving and staging of new and repurposed equipment, configuration to standard and customer requirements, installation, and maintenance of records and documentation.
  • Provide network printer support including: troubleshooting, configuration, and installation.
  • Support for City Metro Fiber Network by processing of UNCC requests for locates in combination with existing GIS fiber application and associated maps, locating and marking through the use of fiber locating equipment, updating fiber maps, and obtaining documentation through the use of the GPS unit, web applications, iPad, and photography.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems or other relevant technical degree(s).
  • Two years of experience in Computer and Network technologies along with IT support.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft applications, and have a basic understanding of cybersecurity, computers, and online computer-based technology applications, which includes accessing web based platforms.
  • Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License or be able to obtain one within 30 days of start date.
Preferred Candidate:
  • Has experience with Windows PC's, tablets and smart-phones, GPS units/GIS, telemetry, and map reading.
  • Has networking and/or IT support certifications and/or security certifications, e.g., CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), CompTIA Security+, CISM (Certified Information Security Manager).
Work Environment:

This position requires working in an office environment, occasionally in other offices and City departments. Meetings, trainings, and site visits at a variety of city facilities and areas may be required.

Physical Demands:

This position requires the ability to lift objects weighing no more than 40 pounds from one level to another. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
