FACILITY MAINTENANCE ASSOCIATE
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the guidance of supervisory staff, the Facility Maintenance Associate is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in designated buildings, including offices and communal areas. This role involves performing various custodial tasks, ensuring the upkeep of floors, furniture, walls, and equipment, as well as engaging in minor landscaping and gardening duties. The position requires the operation of light custodial and grounds maintenance equipment and the execution of related responsibilities as needed.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are representative of the tasks assigned to this position. This list is not exhaustive, and not all tasks may be assigned to every individual in this role.
1. Maintain cleanliness in offices and communal spaces; perform vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and floor maintenance tasks.
2. Clean and sanitize restrooms and fixtures; ensure the replenishment of necessary supplies.
3. Dust and wipe down surfaces, including desks, shelves, and light fixtures; maintain cleanliness of windows and mirrors.
4. Operate custodial equipment such as vacuum cleaners and floor buffers; follow safety protocols while using cleaning materials.
5. Secure and open facilities; monitor access points and ensure safety measures are in place.
6. Perform minor landscaping tasks, including watering plants and maintaining outdoor areas.
7. Execute minor repairs as needed, such as changing light bulbs and tightening fixtures.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge and Skills:
- Familiarity with basic custodial methods and equipment.
- Understanding of safety procedures related to custodial work.
Abilities:
- Ability to learn and adapt to custodial schedules and procedures.
- Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication skills to follow instructions and collaborate with team members.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Any combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates the necessary knowledge and skills for this position. Entry-level experience in custodial or related fields is typically sufficient.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical demands of this position include the ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 60 pounds, perform tasks that require bending and standing for extended periods, and work in various environmental conditions.
