Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at The University of Chicago Medicine. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our respiratory care team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide respiratory care to patients of all ages, from neonatal to adult, utilizing concepts of respiratory care practices.
  • Work collaboratively with physicians and nursing staff to assess, implement, and perform respiratory care procedures.
  • Coordinate and perform direct respiratory care for patients, ensuring timely and efficient completion of patient assignments.
  • Exhibit excellent communication skills, explaining procedures and protocols to patients and family members.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation, including patient charts and department records.
  • Participate in ongoing education and professional development to stay current with best practices and advancements in respiratory care.
Requirements
  • Completion of an AMA-approved RRT program.
  • Basic Life Support Certification through The American Heart Association.
  • Must achieve Certified Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from The National Board for Respiratory Care within 6 months of hire.
  • Copy of academic diploma or transcript.
