Cardiac Intervention Specialist II

Role Overview: The
Cardiac Intervention Specialist II
will be responsible for conducting angiographic, therapeutic, and interventional procedures, ensuring optimal patient management before, during, and after these procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer contrast media into coronary arteries as directed by a Cardiologist during cardiac catheterization.
- Monitor and assess the impact of pathology and vital signs to determine appropriate hand injection pressure.
- Utilize knowledge of normal physiological and electrocardiographic sequences to identify both minor and severe arrhythmias.
- Provide necessary patient care as required.
- Assist the physician as a first assistant by scrubbing independently and aiding in the manipulation and placement of guide wires and catheters.
- Schedule and maintain an orderly patient flow.
- Ensure adequate inventory of interventional and cardiac supplies, along with maintaining accurate patient records and departmental checklists.
- Manage supply orders through the hospital purchasing system.
- Support inventory control alongside the supervisor.
- Accurately input patient and supply data into the RIS and/or hospital computer systems.
- Conduct hemodynamic physiologic monitoring and record calculations during cardiovascular procedures.
- Perform electrophysiology and ablation procedures.
- Deliver quality patient care and monitoring throughout all procedural phases, adhering to physician instructions and established policies.
- Demonstrate knowledge of all equipment, inventory, and supply locations.
- Safely operate emergency equipment and respond to on-call emergencies as per departmental policy.
- Handle pre-procedural duties, including sterile tray preparation, patient education, and confirmation of required lab work and medical history.
- Manage post-procedural responsibilities, including monitoring catheter/device insertion sites and providing patient discharge instructions.
- Facilitate patient transportation and communicate care status to the receiving unit.
- Safely operate imaging equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images in line with departmental policies.
Qualifications:
- Completion of an AMA-approved Radiologic Technology program of at least 2 years.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in diagnostic radiology.
- Experience in interventional radiology or cardiac catheterization is preferred.
- Certification or registration from the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
