Job Summary

Oakwood School is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented individual to join our facilities team as a School Porter. This role is responsible for assisting with campus maintenance, safety, and events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure campus grounds and facilities are well-maintained, functional, and safe.
  • Facilitate event set-ups, teardowns, and special projects with minimal supervision.
  • Collaborate with team members to address campus facilities needs and report any issues.
  • Read and respond to internal communication methods to stay informed about campus activities.
  • Update the ticketing system to address facilities needs and requests.

Requirements:

  • Willingness to perform custodial tasks and duties.
  • Ability to self-start, think ahead, and take initiative with duties and responsibilities.
  • Successfully pass DOJ fingerprinting/background screening.
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and automobile insurance.
  • Customer-focused attitude in dealing with various stakeholders and constituents.
  • Ability to read and write English; speak English and understand spoken English.
  • Experience using email and other basic computer programs.
  • Must be neat in appearance, dependable, and possess a positive attitude.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • General or specialized facilities maintenance experience.
  • Prioritization and excellent organization skills.
  • Experience working in a school setting is highly desirable.

Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions:

  • May be exposed to constant activity that requires intermittent standing, bending, crouching, pushing/pulling, lifting/moving/carrying (light to heavy weight material/appliances/equipment – 50 lbs. or more), climbing ladders/stairs, and walking on rooftops.
  • Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate small-motorized equipment.
  • Must have normal range of hearing, vision, color discrimination, and depth perception for proper operation of machines and equipment.
  • Requires the use of appropriate safety equipment.
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures and inclement weather conditions, in high noise levels requiring hearing protection, and with lubricants, solvents, batteries, cleaning fluids, paints, etc.

Compensation & Benefits:

This position has an expected salary range of $24.00 per hour. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, 403b retirement plan with employer match, paid sick leave, professional development opportunities, and on-site cardio and weight room.

Dependent children of employees receive tuition remission (one child no-cost tuition/full-time employee), financial aid and scholarship opportunities, and on-site before and after school care.
