Job Description

Synergy, a leading Boston commercial real estate firm, is seeking a skilled Building Engineer to join our team. This individual will be responsible for performing maintenance duties, responding to work orders, and ensuring the smooth operation of our urban office building in Boston.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and maintain building systems, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
  • Oversee and inspect work performed by outside contractors, ensuring high-quality results.
  • Perform repairs, emergency, and preventive maintenance, documenting all activities.
  • Review and prioritize work orders, estimating time and materials needed to complete tasks.
  • Manage energy efficiency programs to minimize operating costs.
  • Maintain building lighting systems, including repairs and replacements.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed.
Requirements
  • 3-5 years of experience in building maintenance and operations, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
  • Refrigeration or electrical license a plus, but not required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook, with experience in electronic work order and preventative maintenance systems.
  • Valid Massachusetts driver's license.
Work Environment
  • Work will be performed both inside and outside the property, with exposure to weather, fumes, electrical current, and machine noise.
  • Frequent walking, standing, bending, climbing, and repetitive hand use.
  • Occasional sitting, squatting, crawling, and kneeling.
  • Ability to operate assigned equipment and machinery, with occasional lifting of heavy objects up to 50 pounds.
