Senior Toponymist

We are looking for a senior-level Toponymist & Linguist to join our team at Wiser in St. Louis, MO.

Job Description:

This position involves analyzing and conflating information associated with feature data listed in the Geographic Names Database (GNDB), working closely with Intelligence Community (IC) geographic names experts, and responding to questions concerning the proper and correct usage of names, various Romanization systems, and the treatment of descriptive information on standard products.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze and conflate information associated with feature data listed in the Geographic Names Database (GNDB).
• Work closely with Intelligence Community (IC) geographic names experts.
• Respond to questions concerning the proper and correct usage of names, various Romanization systems, and the treatment of descriptive information on standard products.
• Prepare files and maps for work, accurately entering data to maintain and update the GNDB, including batching the completed work into the GNDB.

Requirements:

This role requires a U.S. citizen with an active Top-Secret/SCI security clearance at time of application and a willingness to complete a CI poly upon request. The ideal candidate will have advanced experience with GIS software, including ArcGIS Pro and QGIS, as well as language capabilities that include ILR level 2 reading proficiency (or higher) for multiple languages.

Estimated Salary:$90,000 - $120,000 per year, based on qualifications and experience.
